Experienced English Teacher | TEFL/TESOL Certified | Educational Author & Resource Creator

Hello! I'm Wendy, an Australian English teacher, certified translator, educational author and the creator of LearnEnglishWithWendy.

I've been teaching English online since 2017, helping students from different countries and backgrounds improve their communication skills, strengthen their language knowledge and develop greater confidence in English.

Over the years, I've delivered more than 1,000 lessons through Cafetalk, worked with over 200 students on the platform, and maintained a 4.8/5 tutor rating on Cambly.

But teaching English is about much more than qualifications or statistics. For me, it's about understanding each learner as an individual and helping them achieve something meaningful.

My Teaching Experience and Qualifications

My professional background combines practical teaching experience, language expertise and a passion for creating educational resources.

My qualifications and experience include:

Teaching English online since 2017.
More than 1,000 completed Cafetalk lessons.
Over 200 students taught through Cafetalk.
A 4.8/5 tutor rating on Cambly.
A 150-hour TEFL/TESOL teaching qualification.
Professional certification in translation.
Experience creating original ESL and bilingual educational materials.
Co-authorship of a published children's book.

I have worked with learners at different proficiency levels, from beginners developing their English foundations to advanced students seeking greater fluency and accuracy.

My teaching covers conversation, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing and examination preparation.

My Teaching Philosophy: Every Student Is Different

I don't believe that one teaching method works equally well for everyone.

Some students understand grammar but struggle to speak naturally. Others have extensive vocabulary but find it difficult to organise their thoughts into longer sentences. Younger learners may need engaging activities, while adult students often prefer lessons that address practical communication needs.

That's why I believe in personalised teaching.

My lessons encourage students to express their ideas, ask questions and develop the confidence to communicate independently.

Rather than simply providing the correct answer, I help learners understand their mistakes, recognise patterns and develop strategies for improving.

My aim is not just to teach English. It's to help students become more independent and confident language users.

Personalised English Lessons

Through Cafetalk, I provide online English lessons designed around individual learning goals.

Depending on your needs, our lessons may focus on:

English Conversation and Fluency

Build confidence, develop longer answers, improve conversational flow and learn to express your ideas more naturally.

Pronunciation and Listening

Explore English sounds, word stress, intonation and pronunciation differences across English-speaking countries.

Grammar and Writing

Improve sentence accuracy, understand common mistakes and develop clearer, more effective written communication.

Examination Preparation

Develop practical language skills for English proficiency examinations, including writing, vocabulary, grammar and communication.

English for Children

Help young learners develop confidence through age-appropriate reading, language activities and engaging practice.

Every student brings different experiences, strengths and ambitions to the classroom. My responsibility is to recognise those differences and adapt my teaching accordingly.

Original English-Learning Resources

In addition to teaching, I create educational worksheets, printable activities, writing guides and bilingual English-learning resources.

These materials are designed to make English more accessible, practical and enjoyable for independent learners, parents and teachers.

My resources include grammar exercises, vocabulary worksheets, reading activities, pronunciation practice and examination-preparation materials.

I have a particular interest in developing resources for Japanese learners of English, including Japanese–English bilingual worksheets and EIKEN writing preparation.

I also create learning materials for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking students and other international audiences.

Every resource is developed with a focus on educational usefulness, clear explanations and practical application.

You can explore my educational printables and books through the LearnEnglishWithWendy shop.

An Educational Author

Writing and publishing are another important part of my work.

I am the co-author of the children's book The Little Seed and the Cracked Pot, and I create self-published educational guides designed to support English learners beyond the classroom.

I believe that well-designed educational materials can help students become more confident and independent, even when they are studying without a teacher beside them.

Supporting Japanese English Learners

Japan is an especially important part of my teaching community.

Through Cafetalk, I work with students who have different goals, including improving everyday conversation, developing more natural English expressions, strengthening grammar and preparing for English examinations.

I also share English-learning explanations and educational discussions with Japanese readers.

My goal is to make English learning approachable without oversimplifying the language or overlooking the individual needs of students.

Learn English with Confidence

Learning another language takes time, practice and patience.

Mistakes are not something to fear. They are opportunities to understand the language more deeply and develop better communication habits.

Whether you're a student preparing for an examination, an adult hoping to speak more confidently, a parent supporting your child's learning, or a teacher looking for useful classroom materials, you're welcome here.

LearnEnglishWithWendy combines years of practical teaching experience with personalised instruction and original educational resources.

I look forward to being part of your English-learning journey.

Learn English with confidence. Learn with Wendy.

My teaching philosophy

Learning Together, Growing Together

I believe every learner deserves the opportunity to understand, grow and discover what they are capable of achieving.

For children and beginners, learning English can be particularly challenging when the explanations and instructions are in a language they don't yet understand. The difficulty isn't always the subject itself. Sometimes, it's simply understanding what they're being asked to learn.

That's why I believe in making learning accessible from the very beginning.

Understanding Comes First

Memorising words and rules can be useful, but genuine learning goes further. It means understanding why something works, recognising patterns and being able to apply what you've learned in new situations.

My aim is to create resources that encourage learners to think, explore, practise and develop confidence in their own abilities.

Learning in Two Languages

Bilingual resources can help learners connect new English concepts with a language they already understand. By making explanations clearer, they can help remove barriers to learning and give beginners a more confident starting point.

The goal isn't to depend on translation forever. It's to use understanding as a bridge towards using English independently.

Growing Together as a Family

You don't need to speak English to support your child's English learning.

When explanations are accessible in a familiar language, parents can help their children understand concepts, practise together and celebrate their progress—even if they are beginners themselves.

And something wonderful can happen along the way: parents may begin learning English alongside their children.

Learning becomes something to share, rather than something that feels intimidating or out of reach.

Quality Over Quantity

I believe educational resources should offer genuine value. Every activity should have a purpose, every explanation should help build understanding, and every learning experience should contribute to meaningful progress.

My goal isn't simply to help learners finish a worksheet. It's to help them develop knowledge, confidence and skills they can use long after the activity is over.

LearnEnglishWithWendy turns children's interests into meaningful bilingual learning experiences, helping children understand and excel in English while giving parents the opportunity to learn alongside them—even if they don't speak English themselves.

Because the greatest reward is seeing others discover their potential and excel.
